Packing for treatment can feel overwhelming. Use this simple checklist to know exactly what to bring with you — and what to leave at home.

What to Bring

Please pack the following items

  • Clothing (including undergarments) for up to 7 days
    • Clothing should be appropriate, comfortable, and non-revealing
    • Clothing should be functional for day and night, indoors and outdoors, and the current season’s weather
    • A sweater, sweatshirt, or jacket is recommended
  • Shoes and socks
    • Shoes should be comfortable and functional for multiple uses
    • Both closed-toed and open-toed shoes are recommended
    • Shower shoes are recommended
  • Important documents
    • Driver’s license or state-issued ID
    • Health insurance card
    • Prescription / Pharmacy card
  • Money (cash or card)
    • May be used for pharmacy fees, nicotine products, or any other highly specific items that you may need while you’re here
  • Nicotine products (that are UNOPENED and that do NOT contain THC)
  • Prescription medication (that is in its ORIGINAL packaging, NOT controlled, and NOT expired)
  • Toiletries
  • Reading, writing, and leisure materials (only if appropriate)
    • A journal, notebook, or sketchbook
    • Activities books (coloring, word search, crosswords, sudoku, etc.)
    • Books or magazines
    • E-reader tablet (with NO internet access)
  • MP3 player (with NO internet access), headphones, and charger(s)
    • Music must be preloaded into the MP3 player prior to arrival
  • An extra pillow or special blanket (if desired)

What NOT to Bring

Please leave these at home — many are provided for you

  • Aerosol products
    • Examples: Air fresheners, cleaning products, hairspray
  • Body spray, colognes, or perfumes
  • Candles or incense
  • Electronic devices (WITH internet access)
    • Examples: Digital cameras, Laptops, Smartwatches, Tablets
  • Excessive personal items
  • Expensive personal items
  • Food, drinks, or candy
  • Inappropriate personal items
    • Examples: Depicts drug / alcohol use, uses explicit language / images, is revealing or sexual
  • Multivitamins or supplements
  • Nicotine products (that are OPENED)
  • Personal items with alcohol listed as one of the first three ingredients
  • Pornographic materials
  • Prescription medication (that is NOT in its original packaging, CONTROLLED, or EXPIRED)
  • Sex toys
  • Weapons of any kind
    • Examples: Guns, knives, pepper spray, sharp objects

PLEASE NOTE

  • Bedding
    • We provide pillows, blankets, towels, and linens.
    • We can also provide a limited number of mattress toppers (upon request).
  • Clothing
    • Laundry is available onsite and available two times per week at no additional cost.
  • Food, drinks, and candy
    • We provide three home-cooked meals per day and make plenty of snacks available 24/7.
  • Medications
    • Unless you have the written permission of a member of the Admissions team, then any medications that are not in their original packaging, controlled, and / or expired that you bring to the facility may be destroyed or otherwise disposed of in accordance with the current policies and procedures of the facility.
  • Multivitamins and supplements
    • We provide plenty of these, but if you have a specific request, then we can try to accommodate it, pending the decision of one of our medical providers.
  • Nicotine products
    • We make runs for nicotine at least two times per week. We can buy you nicotine products if you have cash or a card with funds.
  • Reading, writing, and leisure materials
    • We have plenty of activity books, art supplies, board games, and puzzles.
    • We have plenty of books available to read that have been recommended by staff and alumni.
    • We have cable, multiple streaming services, and a Nintendo Switch.
    • We have plenty of outdoor activities (e.g. cornhole, basketball, exercise bike, weights, etc.).
  • Toiletries
    • We can provide plenty of everyday toiletries for your usage.

Final Note

Other than medications that are not in their original packaging, controlled, and / or expired, any personal items that you bring with you that we deem to be inappropriate may be locked up for the duration of your time in treatment and returned to you at discharge.
