What a wonderful experience! This was my first time in a long detoxing stay. They set you up for success and give you all the tools to prepare yourself for after care. An awesome staff that truly cares about you! The chefs are fantastic and they have plenty of snacks to eat. They give you all your medicine and therapy. There are too many people to thank! I highly recommend SCAT for your recovery.

I had the best experience at South Carolina Addiction Treatment! This was my third time in a detox facility and it was by far the best and most loving community I have been apart of. The staff is outstanding. They really do care about their clients and want to see people recover and succeed in life. I have never been offered so much support and help like I did at S.C.A.T in my life. Please, if you feel like you need help and are thinking about going to a detox/ treatment facility, call S.C.A.T, you won’t regret it!

I have been to drug treatment on three other occasions. When I arrived here, I was dealing with several different issues besides my drug problems. Kristine and Tammy help me through some very serious personal situations, as well as Amanda. I would highly recommend this facility. Because now I’m going to a longer treatment facility, which I have never done in my life, and if they hadn’t helped me, I wouldn’t have become the spiritual person that I’ve become now, which I was not before. And I love those three staff members for life.

Our Two Core Programs

Our Addiction Treatment Programs in Simpsonville, SC

SCAT provides two addiction treatment programs under one roof: medical detox and residential treatment. Every client starts with a 7-day detox as Track One. Clients then step down to aftercare or continue into a 7-day residential week, for a 14-day total. The building does not have capacity for extended stays, and the two-track structure keeps length of stay consistent for every client.

Medical DetoxTrack One · Days 1-7

Medical Detox

Medical detox is the supervised process of clearing substances from the body while withdrawal symptoms are managed. At SCAT it runs a standard 7 days, and every client begins here.

  • Licensed nurses on site in a 24-hour facility, following detox protocols throughout
  • Detox across all substances, including cases many other facilities decline
  • Four admission assessments completed inside the first 24 hours
  • Single, double, and triple rooms, with three home-cooked meals daily
  • Step down into the residential week on Day 8 with no transfer

Inpatient RehabTrack Two · Days 8-14

Inpatient Rehab

Track Two adds a seven-day residential week after detox. Staff call it a stabilization week, because many people relapse immediately after detox alone, and the extra week builds a buffer.

  • Three guaranteed individual counseling sessions with an assigned therapist
  • Off-site meetings across 12-step, SMART Recovery, and Celebrate Recovery
  • Smaller residential breakout groups alongside the three daily groups
  • One optional family counseling session, plus a family information package
  • Transition on Day 14 to Charlotte Carolina Recovery, aftercare, or a therapist

Why choose SCAT

Why Choose SCAT for Substance Abuse Treatment?

SCAT is the only family-owned and operated addiction treatment facility in South Carolina. Sixteen beds and a staff-to-client ratio near 3 to 1 mean staff know every client by name, and visitors on tour cannot easily tell staff from clients.

Family-owned and operated

SCAT opened in 2021 as a small, intimate facility guided by five core values: compassion, integrity, community, teamwork, and growth. The mission is kept deliberately simple: to help individuals overcome the disease of addiction.

A roughly 3-to-1 staff-to-client ratio

Five clinical team members plus one intern cover a 24-hour facility, with around four clinical staff on-site during business hours and at least one on evenings and weekends. This coverage is what lets SCAT complete all four assessments within 24 hours.

Home-cooked meals from a full kitchen

A dedicated kitchen team serves three home-cooked meals daily, plus free snacks and occasional home-baked desserts. The full retail kitchen is licensed by the South Carolina Department of Agriculture.

Community over isolation

The anti-isolation approach promotes connection. Detox and residential clients share the same optional groups, staff and clients eat together, and client artwork lines the colorful, non-clinical walls.

Not a 12-step-only program

SCAT takes clients off-site to 12-step, SMART Recovery, and Celebrate Recovery meetings so each person can find the recovery pathway that fits. The only rule on outings is no drugs or alcohol.

The SCAT Guarantee: family for life

Every graduate receives direct text and phone access to SCAT's alumni outreach line. At 90 days, the alumni team personally calls each graduate to check in and invite them back to the SCAT Alumni Speaker Series.

Therapies & Programming

What therapies does SCAT provide?

SCAT runs at least three groups every day, one after breakfast, one after lunch, and one after dinner. A minimum of 10 internal staff members facilitate groups each month, including techs, clinical team members, and dedicated facilitators.

Detox and residential clients attend the same groups, because the facility is small and integrated. Track Two clients also receive smaller residential breakout groups. SCAT is not a 12-step-only program, and takes clients off site to three different recovery pathways so each person can find the one that fits.

Frequently Asked Questions

Alcohol and Drug Rehab FAQs

Detox at SCAT is a standard 7 days. SCAT does not admit for shorter detox stays, because a fixed length supports on-site clinical planning, census management, and safer withdrawal management by the nursing team.
Cost depends on your level of care and your insurance. SCAT offers a 7-day detox track and a 14-day detox-plus-residential track. Verification of benefits is completed before arrival, so your coverage is confirmed in advance. Call (866) 798-2386 or use the form above.
SCAT does not provide medication-assisted treatment on site. Medication-assisted treatment, or MAT, uses FDA-approved medication alongside counseling. MAT clinic appointments are arranged as one aftercare option during discharge planning.
Every client receives a psychiatric evaluation within the first 24 hours as one of four admission assessments. The program's primary focus is the disease of addiction across all substances. Ongoing mental health care is built into the individualized aftercare plan.
No. SCAT takes clients off site to 12-step, SMART Recovery, and Celebrate Recovery meetings. Each client chooses the recovery pathway that fits. The only restriction on outings is no drugs or alcohol.
Yes. Clients may smoke at any hour by stepping outside to a designated outdoor area. Apart from meal and medication windows, movement is unrestricted. The single program rule is no drugs or alcohol.
SCAT applies a 72-hour blackout from internet-connected technology. Within the first 24 hours you meet a therapist and may call family during that meeting. After 72 hours, clients receive two phone calls per week, and more can be arranged with a therapist.
SCAT contracts with Aetna, Ambetter, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, Magellan, MedCost, and Molina. Some Blue Cross Blue Shield and Molina plans are restricted to South Carolina residents. SCAT also works with self-pay clients.
Bring a photo ID, your insurance card, current prescription medications in original bottles, comfortable clothing, and basic toiletries. Leave valuables, large amounts of cash, and any substances at home.
Aftercare is individualized. Plans include longer residential programs, partial hospitalization at Carolina Center for Recovery, intensive outpatient, a MAT clinic, or an individual counselor. SCAT provides transportation up to 2.5 hours of driving distance.
